Saturday family time

I actually spent time with my family this morning. It seems very hard to find the time lately for just the four of us. We had a great time in the yard, and we took a walk down the road. We stayed outside as long as we could take the bugs.

Down the road

Eliza decides she needs to pull the wagon.

Racing down the road. At first Dad carries Eliza, but Spencer put up too good of a fight, so he had to put her down to fend for herself. She got a little left behind, but she was trying.

I love my daddy!

Potty Time?

September 28
Can this really be happening? We have been having some issues going potty, so it has been very obvious when she was going. I thought sitting on the potty might help her, and it did. So, we have been going for about a week on the potty with only about three dirty diapers. I decided that I might as well sit her on the potty as much as I can. I have looked up the sign for potty so we can maybe communicate about when she needs to go, and she has already walked to the potty and tried to get on, and with help getting her diaper off and getting on the potty, she went. Yesterday, she actually peed on the potty, and today she did three times. I don't know, we'll see what happens.

Charlotte Grace Halford

September 24th
Our niece was baptized Sunday, September 24, 2006. She did a great job, and she was beautiful.

The girl of the hour.

Amy and Charlotte

Eliza sure had a good time.

Eliza - "I must get away!"
Blair - "Just take one picture!"

Don't they look so innocent?

Huh, they fooled us. Spencer can reach higher than Benjamin can. I kept asking Spencer what they had gotten into, and he kept saying it was makeup. Turns out it was a Bob the Builder ink pad.

Guys' Weekend

September 23rd
So, my wonderful and most deserving husband escaped this weekend to go to Garden City to his family's beach house with some of his guy friends. I think they had a wonderful time. Meanwhile, I had a pretty good Friday and got the kids to bed nice and early Friday night. Saturday morning I wake up to Eliza with a swollen eye. Not only is it swollen, it is all red where it is swollen. I knew she had gotten a bug bite near there the day before, so I wasn't too worried, and the swelling was going down. Then, we decided to take Pop and go see Legare play in a soccer game. It was good to get out of the house for a while, and we would get home in plenty of time for the Clemson game.

So, Eliza went to sleep for her nap, and when she woke up her eye was swollen again, so Mom and Dad convinced me to call the doctor just to make sure. Well, I called the service twice, and the on call doctor(not from Cooper River Peds) never called me back. Nice. Anyway, I still wasn't too worried, but I was angry the doctor never called. (I did call the doctor's office Monday to tell them that no one called me, and they were very apologetic. The nurse said a mosquito could cause the swelling, and then I got a call from Eliza's doctor making sure everything was okay.)

Of course, Spencer was in his room for 2 hours for a nap, but he decided he didn't need one until he was in the chair and it was supper time.
Why are things always so interesting when one spouse leaves?

Playgroup

September 18th
Our first playgroup in the afternoon. We are meeting at 4 in the afternoon since our kids are now in schools at different times.

Visit with the Crawfords

September 17th
The Crawfords were cruising around in Sue's new pink boat, so we asked them to stay for dinner. It is so wonderful to see all of our children playing together, and I know it is even more special for my mom to watch them all together.

Julia, Legare, Spencer, Whitfield, Amy Patterson

Thomas, Julia, Amy Patterson and Darren picking and eating crabs Thomas caught off our dock.

Julia's birthday was the Friday before, so Anne brought a cake for her to share with all of us.

I can't believe she is already eight years old.

A.C.T.S.

September 17th
I have started a group at church for adults that meets just to get know each other better and enjoy each others company. We haven't met for a while, so Spencer and I invited them to our house after church for a cookout. We all had a great time playing games outside and eating.

Kitchen Shower

September 16th
My mom hosted a kitchen shower and brunch for my future sister-in-law, Amy. She made delicious casseroles and fantastic desserts. We all had a great time.
Amy, Mom and Celia

Celia and Spencer came down to show everyone what beautiful teeth they had. After he took his fake teeth out, he recited most of T'was the Night Before Christmas, and then he played his harmonica for everyone.

Eliza had to come say hello to everyone too.

Labor Day

September 4th
Labor day at the Lancasters. We had a ton of fun just hanging out, and watching the children run all around. The Lancasters had us, the Sanders, the Smiths (minus Stephen), and the Weinheimers over for dogs and burgers. It was wonderful. Thank you.
